A large manufacturer client had an employee out of work, receiving workers compensation benefits for several years. The employer was also paying for the out-of-work employee’s health insurance. Through a consultation with The Seltzer Group, we were able to obtain legal advice for them on FMLA and COBRA. This resulted in their ability to end payment for the employee’s health insurance. We also were able to help train the employer on the proper procedures for handling FMLA and COBRA to avoid future issues.

 The result is the employer saving $600 a month in health care costs and the avoidance of future issues. 


 This client, a social service organization, was lacking a procedure for complaints (tracking and documentation). We helped to develop a plan on how to handle major and minor complaints as well as conducted training on how to investigate, problem solve and handle difficult people.

 The result is an efficient way for this employer to handle complaints in the workplace, allowing issues to be taken care of before they become a large (and potentially expensive) problem. We developed forms for the client along with a procedure for them to follow and a tracking system for all incoming complaints. Managers are equipped with the knowledge to handle internal and external complaints.


 A client was having issues concerning their HR files. They were keeping the incorrect information and filing it in the incorrect place. We reviewed all of their HR files, active and inactive, and instructed them on how to separate and store the files. We created a binder for them to store I-9’s and instructed the client to store them in a secure place.

 The result is an informed, educated client in regards to maintaining and storing important documents. If important documents are mismanaged, there is a larger chance of fines and compliance issues in the event of an INS audit.
